Biography

Venezuelan born Chef Eva Barrios, Certified Executive Chef, is currently Head Chef at JOEY Restaurants’ JOEY Uptown location in Houston. She started her culinary career twenty-one years ago in Houston, Texas, working for two Master Chefs at the Houston Country Club. She graduated from the American Culinary Federation apprenticeship program and earned a culinary degree and pastry certificate.

Chef Eva volunteers as an ACF-certified evaluator, site evaluator, and certification commission member. She also held the president position of the Austin Chapter of the ACF, the Regional Certification Chair of the Texas Chefs Association, and she was the coordinator for two ACF apprenticeship programs. She was a Club and Resort Chef author and blogger during her time as a private country club chef.

Having participated in numerous culinary contests, her most cherished recollection remains the 2019 Chef-to-Chef Mystery Basket Competition event held in New Orleans. A standout memory unfolded as Chef Eva, alongside Chef Nelson Milan, hailing from Puerto Rico, clinched the championship and proudly carried the title to the Lone Star State of Texas.

Presently, Eva brims with anticipation as she assumes the helm of the culinary brigade at JOEY Restaurants, spearheading their journey of growth from Houston to Dallas. Her aspiration is to amplify culinary distinction throughout the expanse of Texas, fortifying the restaurant’s culinary prowess and contributing her innovative touch.
